Updated: May 25

As I sat down to write this blog post, memories of my childhood flooded back - the aroma of freshly cooked parathas wafting through the air, the sizzling sound as they touched the pan and the joy of relishing them with my family. I still remember the day when I visited the Punjab for travel I and my Punjabi friend ate Aloo Paratha together and that too with Punjabi special Patiala Lassi. We Indians love diversity and variety whether it's culture, lifestyle, hospitality and these parathas. Indian parathas have always held a special place in my heart and today, I want to share with you 7 different types of Indian parathas. Indian Parathas also known as flatbreads in English.

Let’s take a quick look at the different types of Indian parathas

From the crispy Aloo Paratha to the flaky Gobi Paratha, the savory Paneer Paratha to the sweet Methi Paratha, the Spicy Chicken Paratha to the Simple Plain Paratha to the Lucknow (North India) Special Laccha Paratha. Indian cuisine offers a myriad of paratha variations that cater to every palate. Each region in India boasts its unique take on this traditional dish, reflecting the diverse culinary heritage of the country.

To be honest, I consider myself extremely lucky to have grown up in a country like India where I had the privilege of eating a variety of Indian parathas, each of which tells its own story of tradition, culture and taste, apart from the fact that I was born in New York (USA). That too is a different story in itself but that later.
